Extending support to vulnerable communities amidst COVID-19: GCB’s donation to The Food Bank Singapore
The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many livelihoods and impacted many Food and Beverage (F&B) businesses. The need for food and daily essentials has been exacerbated amongst the vulnerable communities, thereby increasing the need for more food support. As part of the Food industry and to support these communities, GCB Cocoa has pledged a donation to a food charity, The Food Bank Singapore.

With the mission of ending food insecurity in all forms in Singapore, The Food Bank Singapore partners with 360 beneficiaries to provide a hearty meal to the needy. They receive food donations from a wide range of donors (such as manufacturers, distributors and retail stores) with excess food and deliver these donations to their network of beneficiaries who are in need of food support.

On 21st August 2020, the GCB Cocoa Singapore team led by Elsa Tay (Commercial Director) made a trip down to the food bank to donate 30 cartons of CocoaRich chocolate beverage (produced by GCB FOODS SDN BHD). Within each carton, there are 18 packets of hot chocolate powder sachets which can be easily stored and repackaged by the food bank before delivering to the beneficiaries. The CocoaRich chocolate beverage is made from the finest quality ingredients which is nutritious and in good taste.

The Food Bank Singapore also gave our team a tour around their warehouse and explained their food bank model and the activities they are conducting to raise awareness about the issues surrounding food insecurity and food wastage so as to garner more support from the community.

We hope that our donations will spark joy to the beneficiaries receiving it and we will continue to make various contributions in other ways be it through voluntary work by our employees, monetary or product donations to assist the vulnerable communities during this time of uncertainty.
